Localized accumulations of body fat, resistant to diet and gymnastics, can be permanently eliminated by means of Liposuction, a body modeling technique.
Liposuction can be performed anywhere in the body, but the areas where it is practiced most frequently are the hips, thighs, knees, abdomen, submental region. This intervention will only partially correct cellulite blemishes. Liposuction consists in the removal of superficial body fat, the amount of fat that can be removed is limited and determined by the surgeon, based on the characteristics of the individual patient. The intervention is repeatable.
It is necessary to try and quit smoking at least two weeks before and after the surgery in order not to nullify the chances of proper healing, in fact like all surgeries, this too will have scars, even if very small, that will heal over time. ; the surgeon will adopt all the techniques to obtain a nice scar, small and located at the same level as the surrounding skin. The type of anesthesia, the length of hospitalization, the frequency and type of dressings, the time of stitch removal, depend on the individual clinical case and the technique used. The outcome, although appreciable from the very beginning, is evident in no less than two months and will improve further.
Surgical procedure
Liposuction is performed in the operating room and can be performed under general anesthesia, spinal anesthesia, epidural anesthesia or local anesthesia with sedo-analgesia. Local anesthesia is used if the amount of adipose tissue to be removed is limited. During the lipoaspiration maneuvers together with the crushing of the fat, there is also the rupture of a certain number of blood vessels which, before closing under the compressive action of an elastic sheath that is worn at the end of the surgery, allow it to spread into the tissues surrounding a certain amount of blood which causes bruises that can occur after surgery. These are reabsorbed within about 15 days. One or two small sutures will close the cannula entry holes. At the end of the surgery, the patient has to wear an elastic sheath for about a month.
The patient will be able to resume normal activities a week after the surgery, bearing in mind that for about 10 days she will have pain due to pressure on the operated areas. If the patient’s work is such as to require demanding physical activity, a longer convalescence period will be required. Sports activities can be resumed after 4 – 6 weeks. Driving the car is allowed after one or two weeks. Sexual activity after 2 weeks.
