Dr.Marco Lorenzini
I am a Plastic Surgeon specializing in Reconstructive Surgery and Aesthetic Surgery. In my long activity, both in the hospital and private fields, I have always considered the two main aspects of my specialty as interdependent and correlated.
Reconstructing the tissues and structures damaged following trauma or surgical treatments and reshaping the face and body to correct dysmorphism or mitigate the inevitable age changes, have in common the same concepts that are the basis of Plastic Surgery.
Reconstructive surgery, properly so called, includes operations aimed at the reconstruction or remodeling of the breasts after an oncological treatment, the correction of post-traumatic scarring and the treatment of skin and soft tissue neoplasms when the radical removal of the lesion is also associated with a reconstructive intervention in order to reduce the results.
We talk about remodeling when we enter the specific field of cosmetic surgery. Remodeling of the breasts with reduction mammoplasty, mastopexy and augmentation mammoplasty. Body remodeling operations (for example after significant weight loss following a surgical treatment of obesity) such as abdominoplasty, arm and thigh lifts, liposuction and plastic rectus muscles to correct post-pregnancy diastasis. But also rhinoplasty and otoplasty.
And again, all those treatments, both medical and surgical, which allow to reduce the signs of aging such as fillers, lipofilling, lifting, blepharoplasty, etc.
Many procedures and different types of treatment which in my personal philosophy are interdependent and linked by a common thread; the psychophysical well-being of the person.
